Level 1 Sports Trainer

Phoenix Sports Trainer Service’s Level 1 Sports Trainer course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform the role of a Sports Trainer.

The course covers key areas such as managing common sporting injuries, sports taping techniques, and the safe transport of injured athletes. It is ideal for aspiring Sports Trainers, as well as teachers, coaches, administrators, and parents seeking an understanding of the core principles of sports medicine.

Successful completion of the Level 1 Sports Trainer course allows participants to undertake Sports Trainer duties across most major Australian sporting codes.

Duration: 7 hours

Delivery Method: Face-to-face

Certificate Validity: 3 years

Course Mode and Duration

This course is delivered as a total of 7 hours face-to-face, which may be completed in one full day

or across two - 3.5 hour sessions.

Prerequisites

Participants must hold the following current certifications:

  • First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011)

  • CPR Certificate (HLTAID009)

Course Content

Participants will engage in both theoretical and practical learning covering:

  • Principles of sports injury prevention

  • Immediate injury response and management

  • Sports taping techniques

  • Common sporting injuries

  • Medical conditions relevant to sport

  • Concussion recognition and management

Assessment

  • Assessment methods include:

  • Demonstration of practical skills

  • Scenario-based role play activities

  • Written assessment tasks

Certificate

A Sports Trainer Level 1 Certificate will be issued by First Aid Management & Training Centre upon successful completion of the course. The Certificate is valid for 3 years.
